Functional Movement + Fitness Training
“There is a difference between lifespan and healthspan. Lifespan is the number of years you’re on this planet, but healthspan is the number of years that you’re healthy—being able to live independently and partake in activities you enjoy.” — Jonathan Bonnet, MD, MPH, and Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine
As an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, I create custom workout programs aimed to improve postural stability, joint mobility, functional movement, balance, muscular fitness, cardiorespiratory fitness, and performance and endurance. Whether you’re recovering from injury or illness; just starting out exercising because of a doctor request, lab result or general desire to look, move and feel better; or are looking to optimize your fitness routine, we’ll collaborate and determine your goals and how to best achieve them.
Functional movement training is more than lifting heavy things and running. It’s about developing strength that improves daily activities while feeling good. Focusing on function invites a thoughtful exploration of what health and mobility mean for you as you age. We’ll focus on mimicking real-life movements and activities to move with purpose and identify root causes of discomfort to empower you to live your best life more actively—and free from pain.
Foundational to this training method is the deep connection and guidance found in nature. Movement patterns are optimized and inspired by natural forms and functions, which allow us to unlearn harmful behaviors and increase resiliency.
Through customized programs designed specifically for you, we’ll analyze whole body functioning and identify opportunities for strength and fitness endurance. We’ll correct postural imbalances and incorporate flexibility to increase range of motion, allowing you to move more comfortably and freely. And through consistent training, you can reduce body fat and improve body composition—which will help your cells and organ systems function better.
What to Expect
I help my clients safely and effectively reach their movement goals by meeting them where they’re at and continually adapting the program as they evolve. I take a holistic approach to help ensure you’ll achieve sustainable results.
We can meet in person if you’re located in Denver or virtually. Just like training with me in person in the gym, at your home or outside, every virtual training session will be unique and designed for you based on goals, injuries and needs.
The first step is to send an email of your interest to explore personal training or schedule a free consultation. During this 30-minute conversation, we’ll get to know each other and determine whether I’m the best person to support your fitness journey. We’ll confirm the session program and schedule, identify goals, review your health history, complete necessary forms and waivers, and explore in-person locations or equipment needed.
Sessions will last 50-55 minutes and always include a warm-up, conditioning and cool-down period. Depending on your goals, you’ll have homework between sessions as needed.
