You’re Made of Starstuff (and Probably Need a Nap)

You, yes you, are made of stardust. Seriously. Carl Sagan wasn’t just being poetic when he said: “The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood... were made in the interiors of collapsing stars.” Which means, technically, you’re cosmic royalty.

But here's the twist: despite your star-born brilliance, your cells still need some basic TLC here on Earth. Reintroducing BUILDS—Bioinspired Universally-Infused Loving Development Series (say that five times fast)—where science meets soulful self-care, and where your wellbeing starts at the cellular level.

Let’s break it down:

Your body is a community of trillions of cells, each doing their best to keep the lights on. But they can’t do it alone. They’re not machines—they're living members of an ecosystem. And like any ecosystem, they depend on a few essential elements to thrive:

Nutrients – Real food, not just fries and cookies (no shame—we’ve all been there). We’re talking vibrant, whole, unprocessed nourishment that your cells recognize as medicine. Think: colorful plants, healthy fats, clean proteins. What you eat isn’t just fuel—it’s information.

Rest – Not just scrolling and Netflix marathons. We mean actual sleep. With REM cycles, deep tissue repair, hormone regulation, and full-system reset. Your brain, your digestion, your immune system—they all depend on it. Sleep is not a reward. It’s the foundation.

Movement – Not punishment, not perfection. Just joyful, regular motion. Walk, dance, stretch, swim, cartwheel if you can. Movement supports lymph flow, brain function, digestion, mood, and metabolism. Your starstuff was never meant to sit still all day.

Balanced Stress – Cortisol is a survival superhero—but it’s not meant to be in charge 24/7. Chronic stress disconnects your brain from your body and sends your cells into defense mode. You need challenge, yes—but also recovery, boundaries, breathwork, and moments of calm that remind your nervous system it’s safe to soften.

Connection to Nature – Your cells evolved with sunlight, soil microbes, birdsong, and seasonal rhythms—not LED lights and blue-screen insomnia. Nature isn’t a luxury—it’s a biological requirement. Touch a tree. Lie on the earth. Watch how wind dances through leaves. Let your nervous system remember what it was made for.

Try This: Ask yourself—of those five key elements, which one are you nailing? And which one’s giving “I’ll do it next week” energy? Start there. Tiny shifts matter.

And remember, healing isn’t a straight line—it’s more like a spiral staircase. Sometimes you loop back, sometimes you sit on a step for a while. That’s okay. Showing up each day to try your best is enough. You are already enough.
